Looking at buying a new .22

++ on the Savage Mark II. Some reviews on the net say the MKII had a plastic trigger guard.... for sure the BTVS now comes with a metal guard as I think all MKII's do.

The Heavy Barrel 10/22 is nice also. Saving up for that one.

My brand new MkII has a plastic trigger guard.

But I still vote for a Savage MKII, VERY accurate gun!

I would buy a ruger 10/22. You have a wide choice of accessories with this gun as well. With a price that is pretty reasonable.

I did added a bolt buffer.. vq triger hammer and sear kit had to buy the bushings as well new plastic triger houseing.. (dont put shims in wont fit) vq target disconect,.. added a bushel scope another 100 bucks for that and Im happy with it now but Im looking for a base that you can see through so you can still use your iron sights or the scope..

Budgetary restraints don't necessarily mean no shooting. For example I bought my used Cooey 60 for $40.00 in 1986 and its still going strong. You don't need to look at the latest or greatest, there are a lot of used rimfires out there and it costs nothing to look around until you find a good deal on one. I wholeheartedly recommend the Cooey I mentioned above.

Great advice!!! .22s in good condition would still cost in the 80-120 dollar range in today's market. Try to buy local to avoid shipping/insurance which could easily be 20-25 dollars.
