Looking at first mauser have Q's

Hey guys here is the scoop

I'm looking at buying this mauser but don't very much about them. Here are the details

1939 stamped 147 ( sauer? )
K98
Stock and barrel and a few things match. Force matched bolt ( electro penciled ). Russian capture?

Very good shape with strong clean bore

There are 3 bird stamps with the circle swastica in its talons on one side of the action and another on the other side. They all have numbers under them like 33 and 237 or something.

Bluing is strong with a good crown.

Value ? Guy wants $650

Edit are the eagle bird swastica things referred to as WaA stamps.

I've done some reading and it seems not very common but not rare like I was hoping.

It is a Sauer. Sounds like it could be a Russian capture. Pretty hard to tell without some pics. The price isn't too out of line with the current pricing of RC's and other refurbs.

Not a sauer trait, so definitely a refurb.

The birds with numbers are waffenamts. the birds with swastikas are firing proofs.
The ones with both are an early Waa marking.

price is decent these days. If its in the kind of shape it sounds like and you want one, snag it. 8mm mauser is fun to shoot too!!
