Looking at Savage or CZ

Don't forget about the Browning T-Bolts.
If the triggers are set up nice and proper, they can make a real humble target
you can brag about.

buying a savage compared to a cz, is like comparing a cooey to a remington 541 or a winchester 69a. While they would both shoot good out of the box, it comes down to fit, finish and and available aftermarket accessories. Handle both and see what fit's you best.
 
After much soul searching I finally purchased my .22. I bought a savage mark II G, and mounted a nikon 3-9 rimfire scope on it. The granddaughters came over this week and I took them both out to our local shooting range, individually, and only after they took passed a short test on ACTS and PROVE. After sighting it in (10min) the youngest one (12) had her turn. We were there about 2 hours and she loved it, especially as there was a fellow there shooting some high powered rifles and a pistol. She did very well and of course took her targets with her. The elder granddaughter (14) was equally plesed with her results, and rather impressed me with her offhand shooting. They both believe that they are the best shot, and were on the phone to their parents for over an hour talking about it, amongst other things. Both are eager to go again, and want to try my blackpowder rifle, but until I get comfortable with it, we will leave it locked up.


We are heading out fishing today, and horseback riding tomorrow. Two more young enthusiasts to help spread the word.

This is great news! It's good to see more (young) women getting involved in shooting. And congratz on the Savage MKII.
 
Nice! I get more pleasure watching my daughter shoot than I do being the one on the trigger myself. The Savage will serve you well, be sure to wipe-down the metal after you use it. I find Savage rimfires to be the least forgiving when it comes to sweaty fingerprints.
