I just picked up some barnes .303 cal 150gr tsx bullets and I was wondering if anyone has a good hunting load for the Lee Enfield No.4 mk1. Powder I would be using is varget, primer cci br2, and ppu brass.

Start at the lowest data for 150gr jacketed and work your way up watching for pressure signs.IMR4895,RE#15 + Varget in that order.Don't need BR primers IMO.

Varget is a good choice. Start with the the START 150 gr load and work up. Look for accuracy. Higher velocity will mean higher pressure and case separations.

I would think something around 41-42 gr would do the job. Start at 40.

IMR4895 is another powder to consider.

Yeah I was thinking about picking up a pound, from what I've read it also performs pretty well in the Garand

looking through the hornady manual for their .303 Brit 150gr interlocks about 37gr of varget should get me around 2400 fps which is about the same velocity as the MK VII ball ammo so I'll probably start there and work up a load.

Old Lyman manual .303 British accuracy loads [150gr/41gr IMR4895/2409fps] + [180gr/IMR4320/2469fps] Factory duplication load 180gr/IMR4895/42.5gr/2433fps................Accuracy Load [215gr/ IMR4895/39.5gr/2188fps]
