Looking for 223

I have two cz 527 varmints and love them, a mossberg MVP varmint 5.56 NATO followed me home yesterday. Haven't shot it but out of the box it looks good, it's not a cz but at $540 I'm willing to over look a few things that is until I shoot it.

Well it sounds like the op has settled on the Savage Axis, as for availability, in your local area I don't know.
but what I do know is I can murder cola cans all day at 200 paces with Chinese ammo.
But yeah, if your going to be doing any serious shooting with it, get a nice scope. I can't tell you what scope to get, but I have had good results with my Weaver Kaspa.

I opted for the Savage AXIS. Now waiting to get mounts and a bipod. This was about the least expensive rig without going the Norinco route (which I considered but was put off by circa 2012 posts of some pretty bad issues but glad to hear an earlier poster here (#16) say he had no such issues on his). For the amount I'll use it, I didn't want anything more expensive.

I bought a AXIS .223 to use as a beater rifle for popping yotes on the farm. I came up with a handload for it in about 6 shots. Its a bit "junky" but it's damn accurate and serves it's purpose well.

Some great rifles as posted above,

My current choice is a Weatherby Vangaurd or Howa (same dudes in Japan) , my Weatherby varmint heavy barrel sub moa was $650(on sale). I ordered a Howa picatiny rail as Weatherby cheap's out and doesn't offer them. You should take a serious look at Howa, Weatherby can be a pain in the ass but do have quality products, especially in the mark v (5) stuff. If you want no hassle and "EASY" accessories then buy a Remington 700 in .223. or what ever calibre you like. I do like Weatherby but hate the hassle for accessories, just might be the Remington for future purchases. Also note if you want the picatiny rail goodies stick with the Remington stuff, cost is lower and everywhere you turn you can get neat stuff for Remington's.

closing note,

although my Weatherby is "flea ball shooting" gear, to get the goodies and a huge less hassle go with the Remington stuff, Savage too (sory Savage dudes) If I left you out.
