you'll like it, built like a tank .

Ya, this will be my 3rd ruger. I have a super blackhawk and a super redhawk. The blackhawk is awesome but the redhawk even sounds different when fired compared to the blackhawk because the frame of the gun is so massive. I figured this was a good addition to the ruger collection.

I mean with a tight budget under $1000 would be awesome.
In a dream a Colt SAA because history. Then a Colt Python. Then a S&W something or other.
I mean I’ve never even shot a revolver but have always loved the look. Only handgun I own is a Kimber Two Tone 1911 in .45ACP because um... it’s a ###y 1911.
I appreciate all the info about revolvers from everyone. I’m going to bite the bullet soon and I’ll post the results on here.

If you are on a 1000 dollar budget, the gp100 I just bought was 977.00 that's all in tax included. Shipping is free. Bullseye London has 2 left at that price. There was 7 on friday morning. They are going fast at that price. Just saying .

Be careful with the 686, they have been know for having poorly indexed barrels as of late.
If possible, handle one in store before purchase.

Just got the gp100. Who ever said Rugers are ugly has all their taste in their mouth. This thing looks awesome. And a rough trigger pull, no way, its smooth as silk. Heavy pull maybe, 500 rounds or a 9 dollar spring kit will fix that. My new favorite gun.

Pics to follow after its maiden voyage tomorrow

The Security Six is just as good as anything else mentioned.Nice action, not as nose heavy as a GP-100 or 686. Tough enough for a steady diet of 357.

You could also get a Smith 627, if you wanted a bit more capacity. Beautiful guns, I'm loving mine. To the point that I'm considering selling my no dash 686. Shame!! Lol

I’ve got a 686-3 with 6 inch bbl and a ca. 2008 GP100 stainless 6 inch bbl with the wood insert grips.

I estimate at least 2K+ rounds through each, mostly 38 spl +P reloads with home cast 158 grain LSWC and 125grain Rainier plated hollowpoints. At the most, 2% reloaded 357 mag 158grain Speer JHPs over 14.0 grain 2400 powder.

Both are as accurate and tight as the day I got them.

Can’t go wrong either way, although I think my pre-lock 686 doesn’t have MIM parts.
