Looking for .38 Western Short

I admit I am not familiar with .38 Western Short ? What firearm is it for? Could be 38 colt short , 38 S&W, 38 rimfire, or maybe something else. Knowing what gun its for would help. Had a guy the other day looking for 25 calibre ammo. Had to narrow it down quite a bit until i figured out it was for 25 stevens rimfire.
I wonder if the OP means 380 Webley????
My 380 Webley won't chamber 38 short colt or 38 S&W factory rounds.
I have to slightly shorten 38 S&W cases, size with a 380 auto die, turn down the rim thickness and cast .380 diameter bullets, with a heel to fit into the case.
This particular cartridge has all sorts of clones and names. It can and does get confusing to anyone not willing to look into the proper nomenclature or design.
It doesn't help that the manufacturers of the ammo and the pistols use different terms to describe their products as well.

We tried some 38 s&w today, was to girthy just like the dominions we tried. We have a short colt, but it doesn't plunk into the chamber, you need to push it in hard to have it fit, and need to ram it out after the fact. We are unsure on the type of firearm. It has no markings, no serial numbers. Well, it has a few markings, comparable to what you'd find on a enfield in certain spots.
