Looking for 8mm Lebel revolver ammo

A buddy of mine just bought an antique 8mm Lebel revolver, and he can't find any ammo for it anywhere. If anyone has some, or knows where to get some, could you PM me?

I just spent a couple hours looking online and could not find a source for this in Canada. It looks like all the Fiocchi 8mm Lebel is sold out. I did find a few people looking for this ammo on this forum and others. You can try posting a WTB in the ammo section of the EE but there is another fellow looking there as well.

It looks like reloading is your best option. Jethunter sells cast bullets for these and you can make brass by cutting down 32-20.

Not always... There are more than a few postings on line about that stuff being so under powered it's getting stuck in people's barrels. A few have even pulled the trigger a second time and damaged the gun.

yup, if you don't reload thou it can be your only choice. i have had name brand ammo do the same thing, just happened to be doing a pov video when it happened so it on my youtube channel. just have to be aware when you are shooting as with any ammo.

Brass is fairly easy to make from 32-20. Cut to length and then run it through the 8mm expander die, and then FL resize.

Yes, at least it does on with my hornady die. I expect it would be the same with any make of expander die.

What's the trim length?

There seems to be some different chamber dimensions. I use 1.070" and it has worked fine in my revolvers and with my bullets. Make up a dummy and see if it chambers, if not adjust the case length to suit.

I use 110 gr bullets and Unique powder.

The hardest part of making 8MM LR brass from 32-20 is the trimming - there is a lot of brass to be removed. Electric powered trimmer is the way to go. Not a fun job for a hand powered trimmer.

You'd still need to trim a little bit to square it off, I'd guess. For sure better than trimming the whole length with a hand trimmer.
