Hello
I've tried to search but searching 14.5" messes it up because of the " command I guess... I dunno it doesn't work well...
Anyway looking for an AR15ish rifle.
-$1.5k would be great, $2k max
-I'm gonna put a Aimpoint ML3 on it, and most of the time only as a paper puncher to 100m, but sometimes 2-300m if I want to walk that far.
-Barrel length to be 14.5", although 12.5" is alright
-Quad rail included already, or within price
-BUIS within price
-Foregrip within price would be a bonus but not a huge deal

A just for fun rifle, hopefully small enough for me to shoot offhand.
I see a lot that are 16" with a quad rail, but not so much in 14.5". I think what's left is a Norinco, a NEA, buying a Stag lower and SBR upper, and that's it? Maybe a LMT with the cheapest quad rail around? Am I missing any options?

You could also hold off for a CORE15. Alternately, you can buy any 16" AR you find and drop in a 14.5" barrel. S&J, NEA and ATRS all carry M4 style 14.5" barrels. The ATRS barrels are chome-lined DPMS AP4 barrels - I've used them and they are nice enough. Only real fault is they aren't parked under the FSB, but who really cares about that???

For close to what you want right out of the box, check this thread:

This is what NEA offers for a 14.5" out of the box. Apepars to have most of what yo uare looking for. If you buy a Norc, you will spend about the same upgrading to a quad rail.

the NEA is prolly is a good bet and you can get one under 1500, i personally settled with a a Stage 2T 16" from arms east. Arguably a far superior rifle then the NEAs and Norcs. The qualitly is there, havnt read anything bad on them, LOTS of member on here run them and Arms East (found in the banner sites) had mine 1660 shipped out the door and all it need to go to the range is a rear sight or optic of ur choice.

The stag is a fine rifle. I'm not surge about "far superior", but I cannot say anything bad about the deer apart from my dislike of the animal logo and the 16" (as opposed to 14.5") barrels that US state dept makes them use.

Thanks for the input. Stag makes a 14.5" railed upper, and I'd go for the SBR-T one then. I guess I'll ask about avalibility of that and a lower and slap them together unless someone knows off hand here.
