Looking for a 1911, Suggestions?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Dlask yet.

People dump on Jo for poor customer service. That is probably why...

For the record, he has always been great to me. Then again I'm local. Its hard to ignore someone standing in front of your desk.;) I've heard nothing but good about his skills on the 1911 (the AR might be a different story though).

So after alot of reading and comparing I'm kinda settling on the KIMBER Stainless II .... I like the look, the reputation and the brand itself. I talked to a few guys that have them and they were saying one thing about Kimber is the fit and finish is second to none. I like this because I'm super picky and I cant stand the cosmetic flaws right out of the box. I have a few buddies that experienced this problem with colt and were somewhat disapointed.... Anyway, obviously its not all about looks but this is one thing I found that seemed to make Kimber stand out from the crowd, also being the side arm of choice for LAPD swat and the marines doesn't hurt either... :p

Well, if you go that way, I hope you enjoy your new toy!

don't know if you want used or new but click on the armco logo up top he does alot of work on 1911's and usually has lots of used ones in really good condition and is a great guy to do buiness with.
he's got new ones to but there usually trojans he also makes some pretty cool customs

The Para Ordnance "GI Expert" looks pretty good to me.

heard they are junk. read a review on it. they just throw in a bunch of #### and call it a GI. GI suppose to be simple and should look like an 1911A1. the para GI is nothing GI. it;s got a commander hammer, beaver tail grip safety, plastic trigger and dotted sights.

to find a 1911 that you like isn't a simple task(in canada) if you were picky like me. i've been looking for one for so long myself. the ones that i like are either way too expensive or they werent in stock anywhere., OR both

I had a Norc, Brazilian Springfield, Kimber Custom II, and a Para SF14-45A. I have to say that my favourite so far has been the Kimber. I saw that Dangertree had 2 Dan Wesson Valors for $1850 each. That may be the way to go for a good 1911.

I had owned a lot of 1911's Norc, Springfield, Para and Colt and sold all of them !
I hold on the one that done everything to stay with me, reliable, quality and accuracy : KIMBER !

And I heard that they represent fantastic value. :) Sure, they're misnamed GI, but I bet that doesn't affect the way they handle and shoot. ;)

Here it is:

(More Para bashing. What else is new...)

All the naysayers can't be wrong...right?

Wrong! My Para-Ordnance P16 has been totally satisfactory.

funny, theres a danger sticker warning about the laser, but there arent any warnings about bullets to the eye:D

the stickers arnt on it any more:D
I blew a diod in the laser and had to send the grips to crimson trase(who told me I have a lifetime warranty on them) and when they sent them back to me they came in a nice little box with extra allan key sight adjusters, cleaners, as well as more stickers for my gun.;) the stickers remain in the box. great service with both kimber and crimson trace.

this whole thread was almost a waste of time, don't get me wrong I greatly value all your opinions and I really do appreciate your help but all these dealers from giant chains to the small guys don't stock ####. When they do order they only order one of each, so what is in stock doesn't last long. This is sooo frustrating a guy almost has to settle on whatevers left over if he wants a 1911. I for one am not going to settle! I guess I'll just wait till all these "so-called orders" show up which could be months. So disappointing, P&D does have one Kimber Custom II in stock but it has a scratch and he still wants full price, I know that might sound picky but if I'm guna pay for a new gun I want it to be new. well theres my rant for the week....
