Looking for a 22WMR

I had a cz 452 American in 22wmr a few years ago.
Very nice gun. I own a few more cz now.
1-1.5” groups.
Was awesome shooting gophers.
Now my only 22wmr is a chiappa badger that I use to slaughter pigs.
 
I've a CZ 452 ZE with 20" bbl with a B&L scopechief 3-9 on it . What's it worth ( honest question ) not rubbing it in or selling it ( yet lol). Yes it's in VG shape

Ooh - it's a heavy bbl

Can't say I ever tried groups at 100yds for MOA but it is easily MOG - G= gopher

I bought a 93BRJ used, from a local buy/sell. I got the same results accuracy-wise except it shoots the maxi-mag hollowponts better than the solids.
 
...20 inches barrel! i did not measure the accuracy myself but i have done a lot or research and they seem to be as precise as the Anchuzt (sic) presision rifle that sells for much more money. Plus you can get it with 3 barrels. 22 lr, 22 mag and 17 hmr
 
Thanks for all the input guys, I now have lots to consider. I have bought / sold / owned & shot more firearms than I can count over the years but for some unknown reason the 22WMR has always eluded me and now that we are so into this gopher shooting I figure this is the time.
 
Yeah...until I see convincing evidence to the contrary, I'll continue to view 22WMR as the heavier-hitting, clumsy cousin to 22LR. lol If I could get a sub MOA 22WMR rifle, I would be a happy man but since I'm pretty sure there is no such unicorn around, I won't spend CZ/Anschutz money on one. It's the domain of Marlin/Savage if you ask me.

Like the OP, I barely have shred of love for 17HMR but UNLIKE the OP....I think it's an absolutely stellar gopher caliber. On our last 2 gopher trips...we've probably sent more than 2,000 rounds down the pipe with 17HMR, very easy caliber to shoot at a distance and my nephew rarely misses. I like 22s too much, and am too frugal anyway...so I run my 452 Varmint in 22LR. 22WMR/17HMR are both more than you need for gophers of course, so it's all a flight of fancy.. :) .. but the greater the #s, the more 22LR makes sense. If I knew we would only get about 100 or so a day like we did a year ago, I probably would have brought my 17 Hornet to add a little spice to the 22LR game. :)
 
Yes, big difference in cost. I fired about 1600 rounds on my six day gopher shoot. Say 32 boxes at $4 each = $128 give or take. Average cost of 17 or 22 mag is at least $15. 32x15= $480.

I love shooting my 17's. I have lots of ammo for them. I bought a .17 452 with a bunch of ammo. I sold the 452 and when the dust settled, I ended up with a brick of Hornady 17gr for $10 a box.

But, I am like 22lrguy, I love shooting my 22's as well, and I can shoot nearly 4 times the ammo. Sometimes I wonder if my thinking is really that clear. I have 9 455's and I am talking about the cost of ammo? :p
 
I know what you mean about the cost. I`m using Federal 525 "value pack" 36 HPs that I stocked up on a while back at a very good price. When you shoot as much as us guys do cost is always a consideration. I think that the cost of the ammo coupled with the, let`s call it "lack of inherent accuracy" has me re-thinking this whole thing. Just keep shooting the hell out of the 22s and use the .222 occasionaly just for the hell of it. When you really look at it I can almost reload .222 ammo for the cost of 22WMR or 17HMR ammo anyway and you`re shooting a serious gopher killing machine that you can actually use in the wind. Having said that you know I`ll just probably buy something else anyway.
