buy one of Mad Dog's POS Savage 99s

Get a .460 Weatherby instead. The .30-06 is on the verge of being reclassified as a squirrel rifle. Unless you want to hunt gophers, it's not powerful enough for deer anymore. Honest.
Any suggestions?? This is for my boyfriend who is a first time hunter, 6 '1' 225 Lb.
I've got a 260 Remington model 7 that's perfect for my frame, don't like too much kick.

The Tikka is hard to beat for value.....give Canadian Tire on south McLeod Trail a try. Their prices and service are hard to beat. .30-06 is a great choice for anything that calls Alberta home.
There is no way a first time hunter should go buy a brand new gun. Set him up with a lightly used one and when his preferences change he won't be out any money when he goes to sell it. Unless he has alot of experience with rifles just playing at the range then fine. If not we are running the risk of wasting his money, just my opinion of course.![]()
