Looking for a .45acp

Its nice to start with original - Colt. Although there are many good 1911 manufacturers.

I'm in the process of building two custom 1911 on norinco frames and caspian slides with quality internals and kart barrels. One in .45 and one in 9mm both guns exactly the same in different calibers.

Thank you for all of your reply!

I found a STI ranger II with night sight in near mint condition in this forum for 1100$ shipped with two extra mags.

Do you think it's a good deal?

Thank's again,
Pascal

I was not a fan of the checkering, rather craters, (STIppling as STI calls it) on the front of the gun as they hurt my hand after a few hundred rounds.

Actually Norincos are not bad - some are a lil rough but they are a great platform to build upon.

Shameless pic.

I'm thinking of the same thing (~$1000 1911) and I've narrowed it down to either an STI Spartan with extra mags or a Springfield Loaded PX9109.

.45

I recently picked up a Sig P220 Combat. Incredibly good shooting gun. It fits my hand like a glove. I also own a Glock 21 SF which is also a good gun but doesn't quite compare to the the Sig. Once you've shot a Sig you'll want to buy one.

For a 1911, the Taurus PT1911 is an excellent pistol and offers great value for cost, even moreso than the STI Spartan, and I believe probably the best deal on 1911s currently being offered.

I think the next best bet would be a Glock 21 SF, or possibly an M&P in .45.
