Looking for a bench rest scope

For my Savage FT/R. I put a Bushnell elite tactical on it just to get used to the file. Now I need something worthy of this fine rifle. Have used Leupold VX3 Would like to stay in the 1500$ range. Any help would be appreciated.

I'd check out the sightron line up , probably the best bang for buck in your price range .... Or maybe keep an eye on the EE for a nightforce BR

In your price range NF Benchrest is very hard to beat, extremely hard to beat. Swarovski is clearer glass but will cost you almost $1000 more than the NF BR series. The NF BR is every bit as good as the NXS line, in fact clearer due to one less lens. Not as rugged but optically better. Very well priced for what you get. Sightron also excellent glass for some. I get headaches looking through sightron for long periods of time, not so with NF.

I don't know much about competing, but I do RO at bench rest matches for 100 and 200 yards. Most of the guys run leupold fixed 40X. Don't know the model, but they spend $1000 on them.

Look at the Sightron III's and the Nightforce BR series. Lots of magnification and reticle choices to make.

Sightron 10-50x60 is very good and at the price ( about $1100 I think ) a great 'value buy'. Personally though I prefer the NF BR 12-42x56 - a little less top end magnification but the glass is, to my eyes, a bit better.

I noticed guys with glasses prefer sightron glass, and those without prefer NF, its the same with swarovski and Leica/Zeiss Binos, guys who do not wear glasses prefer swaro, and those that need corrective lenses prefer Leica and Zeiss. The glass in all of these is excellent. You really need to look through to see what is best for your eyes, the differences are minimal but noticeable.

As far as rugged, Sightron, Leupold, NF, are all great!!

I am actually proceding at changing many of my scope for Sightron, they fit me just perfect and a 10X50X60 LRMOA is probably the best scope for BR in that price range ( actually in all price range if you ask), my favorite is the LRTD, this reticule is just aaawsome... JP.

sightron 8 to 32 some of the sightron 10 to 50 are not clear, not sure why

nightforce BR 12 to 42

and I shoot real centerfire Benchrest but these scopes are what he needs
