Hi guys since I have not had a range membership for a few years I really miss shooting my pistols. I am looking for as close to the real thing as possible. The two I have found are the Sig p226 x five steel bb shooter and the tanfloago witness steel bb shooter. Any of you guys own one. I was also woundering steel bb or airsoft I would just be using it in my garage

I've bought from airgunsource.com in the past.

I have the Sig P226 X5 model. It's nicely made and hefty. Strips down similar to the real steel. Blowback has a nice kick. One CO2 cartridge lasts about 3mags worth of BBs. I've had mine for about 5yrs now and it's starting to show some wear as the trigger sometimes slips forward where it would be in DA mode. It would be nice to find spare parts to rebuild it but if not, it'll be time to retire it before it becomes unsafe.

i have boatloads of airguns. an embarassing amount.

my favorite handgun for garage plinking is p17, and it was only $50.
i also have a welbley alecto in .22 which is an awesome air pistol, but i dont garage plink with it because .177 ammo is cheaper (and easier on my targets)
crosman 357 is a fun one too
buddy of mine was a winchester 1911 all metal blowback bb gun, its lots of fun.

i dont really do much pistol plinking tho. most of my garage time is spent on my daisy 953.

I've got the tanfoglio, it's quite a realistic "replica". Even accepts many real parts. Eats c02 like crazy and not very accurate but what to expect.

Yeah I got the Blackwater BW1911R1 one ( Only bought it because was modded like my real steel ) Same company makes it. I get about 3 mags worth, I can get depending on range 3" at 10Y

I have a S&W M&P45 BB gun... Kinda fun, not bad for practicing trigger control and sight pictures. Surprisingly accurate at "inside the garage" distances. Fun way to practice during the winter.

The controls aren't all the same, and the trigger is kinda mushy. But the sight picture is right on - Fibre Optic sights - so it is kinda valid practice. Cheap like borscht to practice with, and because I'm doing it in my garage, I can set up the video camera so I can look at it afterward and catch myself when my grip is wrong, or I slip my finger inside the trigger guard before presenting to the target etc.

Not the model the OP is asking about, but if its an Umarex well, my experience with this one ==> has been great. Run countless BBs through my Umarex 92 (Taurus 92) replica, as have my kids... and their friends. Have a bunch of spare mags for it. Great practice for IDPA as I find the general operation (mag changes, grip geometry, slide) and trigger pull (albeit a but light) is "close enough" to my Beretta 92 give good practice for IDPA (and now IPSC). Unfortunately the safety is different - otherwise it'd be a dead ringer.

I've also bought many things from airgunsource (per Post #2) I agree they are excellent.

I have the Winchester Model 11 (it's a 1911A1 made by Daisy). It's a 16 shot bb that eats less CO2 and costs less (I got mine for $70 on sale at TSC) than the Tanfoglio witness and kicks like a .22 conversion. These were the main reasons I bought it! It's darn accurate and fun to shoot and it's one of the hardest hitting action pistols (more powerful than a Tanfoglio) on the market.

Here is a great three part written review (by Tom ###lord, the godfather of airguns) on this great gun:

Here's the commercial for it:

No matter what air pistol you get, make sure to take part in the monthly airgun competition we have in the Airgun Forums here. Loads of fun.

Agreed, got my from AGS 2 years ago. Zero issues with it thus far. Extra mags are a good idea though :) Around $30 a piece, but will keep the good times rolling.

I have the Sig X5. Was great for about 20 cylinders..now it will rarely collect a BB during it's slide movement..and often goes "full auto", cycling the action at a phenomenal rate..without actually firing a BB.

To be fair, I know little about these and have no comparison..it was alot of fun when it worked and really is well built. I would not complain about the full auto if it actually loaded each time!

From Hero Outdoors, I got an M&P 9mm GBB (Gas Blowback) - looks exactly like the orig, and the slide function looks correct. It's fun to mix this with my dry-fire practice. You can get "green gas", or use a Coleman Propane bottle (if you buy the adapter)

I've got the Sig226 which I bought used.
Put a ton of BB's through it and it still functions well
The only problem I've had is with the rearsight which broke .
I believe it was the blowback action which broke it..made of some kind of potmetal.
Glued it into place accurately with help from the laser sight which was already spot-on
Fun gun..
If I were to make another purchase , it would be the Winchester 1911

I'm a replica bb gun fan, so here's my current favs. Some are bb, some are pellet, some are 6mm airsoft. They all put holes in paper and a put smile on my face:
