I was told about a book/bible that is a huge wealth of information on AR building.

I know there is a bunch out there, but is there one or two books that would be recommended so that I can learn and soak the info like a sponge?

Thanks, C.

may be out of scope...armourers course thru AGI american gunsmithing institute if want to download......video

The Good Book

I own all of the above titles, (and over a dozen others), and if you are looking for an easy to use, clear, concise book on how to build an AR, I would say none of the above.

I would recommend "The AR-15 complete assembly guide" by Walt Kuleck and Clint McKee. It is well written by a couple of very knowledgeable guys that have built a "few" AR's. It has clear 'photos, a logical sequence, and lists comprehensive checks, tips, and safety information.

Of course, anyone interested in the AR should also have the above titles in their library, although the author of "The Black Rifle II" lost a bit of credibility when he decided to cut and past his photo on a few backgrounds.

Regards.

Mark

You can get all the info you want from online sites and build to your hearts content without ever buying a book. Just sayin'

With the exception of a military manual which would give you some great detail breakdown and repair info, most material in AR books becomes quickly outdated as fast as build options change for the black rifle. All my bulids came from online build references.

Thanks all.

Im a hands on person. I absorb better looking at the pages. I do get a lot from on here and PMing members with questions.

Nothing beats a good book on the crapper though!

ZEDIKER's books are quite good. The competition one is more shooting then building, the builders one is the other way. I have been told that "The Complete Guide to AR-15 Accuracy" is good, but I haven't seen it first hand.

Ultimately, what part of the AR are you wanting to learn? There are piles of books on it.

When I jump into something, I research and learn all I can in order to become and effective and educated owner/operator.

between brownells and gun digest ar 15 vol 1-3 you will learn alot, but ar15.com has a pdf book on putting it together step by step.

The one you want is: "The Complete Guide to AR-15 Accuracy" by Derrick Martin and Barrett Tillman

Brownell's has a good set of videos from start to finish about building ARs as well as downloadable PDFs, I found them really helpful for learning the insides and out while waiting for my AR to arrive.
