Don't laugh,
But i am fairly green to the world of restricted, and bought a few dan wesson 1911's, they are due for a cleaning soon, as i put a few hundred rounds through them already. But i don't really know how to disassemble them properly, and i don't want to get any idiot scratches or mark them up unnecessarily.
So wondering if someone experienced is willing to come by my place one evening in december in Edmonton area, or if there is a good resource for me to follow. I tried looking at a few youtubes, but they have different guide rod set-ups and i cant ask questions during the procedure.
There is a free meal in it for ya! Maybe some baby back ribs or chicken wings. Someone with a good number of posts as to be trustworthy, or known on here.

Thanks.

These are my tips:

1. If you have a tight barrel bushing that requires a wrench, set the bushing wrench on a table and push the muzzle into the wrench and rotate. This simultaneously depresses the spring plug and takes the gun slightly out of battery so that the bushing is easier to turn. It also makes it easier to keep from launching the recoil spring plug. Reassemble in the reverse order.

2. To install the slide stop, start by getting the pin through the frame holes and barrel link. The lever can be out of the way in the trigger guard at this point. Rotate the lever up to line up with the slide takedown notch without touching the frame with the lock. A small tap with a plastic hammer will pop it straight in without risk of scratching the frame compared with the usual method of rotating it up and in by hand.
