Looking for a first over under

WOW!!

So many options.
IMHO you should go to a reputable Gun Shop. NOT Sail or Bass Pro. A shop that the person behind the counter who most likely is a shooter. Or they will definitely have someone on staff who has at least a good handle on what shotguns are used for what purpose. The choices for all shotgun sports.
Have fun looking touching and feeling all sorts. Also you have the internet with some honest options on wood or synthetic. And of course barrel lengths. And choke options.
Good luck
and good shooting

I bought my son his first O/U last spring. Initially went with a new “ budget” gun (Canuck) and that was a disaster. It ended up going back and I bought him a used Miroku from intersurplus. Excellent gun for a good price. IMO, a quality used is a far better choice than “ budget” new and intersurplus has good inventory and very accurate descriptions. Ive bought 4 or 5 guns from Denis since spring and have been VERY happy with all of them.

Looking for some advice on buying my first over/under. I'm a collector and firearms enjoyer who enjoys shooting and having the right guns for the occasion. I'm not a huge clay shooting guy and don't think I'll ever be putting multiple thousands of shells a year through the gun...but definitely looking to step it up this year and hit the range more for skeet and trap.

The used market near me (and in general) isn't great but I'm keeping an eye on it.

Right now I'm leaning towards a Huglu ventus or a Churchill/Akkar 812. I know they're Turkish, but it seems they are good?

I'm willing to step up the price a bit...but the next best I've seen is the entry level 686 silver pigeon field for about 3k on sale. 3 times the cost as the others for something I'm not going to be using to it's potential.

Thoughts?
Find a good used B-gun and you'll be way ahead of the game than buying a new Turkish gun.
