Looking for a good, affordable, moose gun

I have a Stevens 200 in .223 that I have had great luck with so, with the right chambering, I think it would fit the bill. Also have a P14 in .303 that I would happily take a moose with. Just to add more choices - don't forget the 6.5x55's from TradeEx. Swedes have been killing moose with those things forever!

id go to tread ex ad look there there uite a few nice older guns even something in
7x57mm or better yet the euro mosse cartridge 9.3x57

a mosin would work and so would lee enfield heck a sks would do the job (dont go and sporter one your self though just buy one stock and get a no gunsmith mount or buy one bubba had his way with) you dont really need a scope though

my buddy was in the same boat, two of them were actually. back a while ago i pointed one onto a Stevens 200 with the bushnell scope deal...
next one was more recent and i pointed him onto a Savage Axis with bushnell scope deal...

Both rifle have dropped animals since with the same original setups. they might not be wank factor material... but they sure as sh!t work.

I like the 30-06 but moose don't soak up lead well. You don't need a cannon unless you're considering long shots. A solid 30 caliber that you can hit a target the size of a beer box reliably at 100 yards will work for most moose hunting.
