I'm just getting my feet wet with reloading. I've got 30-30, .308 and 30-06. Using 165gr Hornady interlock for hunting. (I have a Savage 24 30-30 over 20 gauge so I don't need RN for that but I will for my Marlin lever).
Going to use IMR4895 for all three. Any comments?
Thanks,

In the beginning, KISS is always a good principle. IMR4895 is a good start. Lots of data, etc.

4895 will do the job. Some other options include H335, BL-C(2), and W748.

WC 735 is an inexpensive surplus powder that will work for the .30-30 and .308, but may be too fast for .30-06. I would use either Accurate Arms Data Powder 2200 or H322 data as a guideline for load development with this powder.

IMR 4895 is my go to powder for most of my military calibers. I even did some testing with it in -30 temperatures this winter and found it to be very stable and consistent at low temps.

Although I may try some Varget in the near future just to see how it compares to 4895.

I constantly load and test for 11 different calibers and the one powder that works very well is IMR4895. The burn rate and pressure wave is fantastic for semi autos and works just as well in bolt guns. If for any reason I could only have one powder, it would be IMR4895, a great all around performer.
