I'm looking for input on my next rifle purchase. I'm leaning towards a lever action for quick cycling of the action. It would be used to hunt moose in dense brush and around swampy areas. I don't really care about recoil as i have a .338 already.

If you could ever find one, a Model 71 Winchester .348 cal. Othewise I would take a .358 Winchester in which ever lever gun suits you best. :D

The eight shoot Garand rifle has the most gentle recoil of any 30-06 I ever shoot. Would be an exellent brush gun, when quick and accurate follow up shoots are needed.

Another good choice for a brush gun, would be a short barrel 12 gauge shoot gun with slugs.

My thick stuff rifle is a Win 94 Trapper in 45LC. Loads are water qenched 325gr FN cast slugs loaded to 1550fps. Will drop anything inside 150yds.

Penetration testing has shown that this slug is very hard to stop. At 35yds, 7" of dry phone book and three water filled milk jugs. NO BULLET.

.45-70 marlin 1895SS or guide gun WITHOUT porting.
put a peep on it and you have about 7ish pounds of light, handy kritter killer.
