Hello everyone,

I know have all the parts I need for my M1 Garand build including a Fulton Armoury barrel and a beautiful DGR semi-fancy stock.

All I need now is to find a good gunsmith to reparkerize parts and install and chamber my barrel. My question is: who should I consider for this work? Vulcan certainly wins the SEO award for the category, and his example photos on his site look great.

Looking for your feedback and recommendations on gunsmiths who specialize in the M1 rifles!

P.s. if it helps, I am in Alberta, but I am not adverse to shipping. Heck, if someone knows of a way I can Form-6 a Garand receiver in to the USA for gunsmithing I'd love to send it to DGR or Fulton Armoury.

Further, I have read a lot on the installation of Garand barrels, the Walter Kuleck guide suggests cutting the chamber by hand with the barrel off the rifle and not using a pull through reamer, but other guides say a pull-through reamer alone is fine. What are your thoughts here?

Vulcan does a nice job of parkerizing and will also install and finish ream you barrel. I have installed a number of new Garand barrels and always finish ream the chamber after installing the barrel. The Clymer pull thru finishing reamer works well.

if you find anyone, pm me. I just want to find someone who will rip off a barrel and throw a new one on, on my m1a. that is, if i can't find a barrel vice to do it myself. :S

Once you have the tools you end up building Garands as fast as you can find the parts. I have assembled at least ten to date and it is only getting worse as SFRC have more receivers in stock! Here is the beginnings of another one. DGR stock ( fitted for genuine drop in), a Criterion chromed lined barrel ( no need to finish ream),re parked receiver ( kitchen project, better half was not amused). Timed the barrel, gauged with BMB bolt and all is good. Waiting for an oprod to show and a few small parts and this puppy will be ready to ping!
