Hello,

I am looking for a good competent gunsmith somewhere near Olds, Alberta (Or anywhere in central/south Alberta) in order to add a choke to an older pump action shotgun and replace/repair the magazine spring on it (a simple 870 spring should do fine).

I've been told most smiths will charge 100 dollars or so plus cost of the choke to do that work.

If you can please recommend yourself if you are a smith, or recommend one, I would be very happy to offer some business!

Yours Sincerely,
Drachenblut

Olds Aberta is a beautiful little but growing farm town! I was unfortunately visited for the first time for my cousins funeral last summer(Lea Dawonik,age31) I am envious of all the open range you have to shoot and hunt on. Sorry I do not know any good Smiths around there, just wanted to let you know how wonderful a place you live! cheers Dale Zywina in Thunder bay!

First Post

ruebenb I see that your first post on CGN is a slap in the face to one of my fellow tradesmen. How brave you are to call him by name and yet you hide behind the anonimity of an unidentifyable alias safe from retalliation and accountabillity. I am proud to be associated in a proffessional capacity with the man you so thoughtlessly degrade as I am sure Bob at Custom Gun Works is as well. We gunsmiths are a tight knit community and all work together here in west central Alberta. Before you make a second post on CGN I suggest that you stick to remarks that are of a more constructive nature. Regards David Henry.

i agree with dave 100%.i can only thank don and dave for all the help over the years and 100% respect for both these fine gunsmiths.remember guys there is but a few of us that are squeaking out a living in this trade and is only due to the fact that we are passionate about what we do.what a man does on his own time is nobodys business but his.regards,bob@custom gunworx

I've had "reputable" gunsmiths at more than one place do a s****y job on firearms before. Some bad work, some not timely. I took a rife to one place that let the rookie do the work, turned out crappy and they were "nice" enough to not charge me labour, just for parts. Great, thanks. A scratched to hell barrel with a bad crown. What would I have done without you. Took a handgun to another place, 11 months later no work had been done at all, and all I wanted was just an adjustable rear sight. Armco did it in 2 weeks. So don't feel bad for slaggin a 'smith that did bad work, it's his own fault. Maybe tell us what the problem you had was for us to better understand your view.
