Looking for a knurling tool to fix my op rod guide.

I tried kms and Lee Valley with no luck. All they have is ones that insert in to a lathe. I'm looking for one with three wheels it looks like a pipe cutting tool. And help or other options would be appreciated.
 
There are clamp type knurling tools for lathe use, but would work without. Mine cuts checkered pattern, but there are likely straight knurls as well.
 
why not just take the part to any machine shop and have it done....WAY cheaper than buying a tool and then messing up your part learning how to use it properly! All too often people do more damage than good when working outside of their skill set.
 
Just a brain fart as I was looking out of curiosity. Could you not take a pipe cutting tool and refit it with knurling die cutters? Without the carbide cutting wheel of course but something to act as a pressure wheel.
 
I thought about using a pipe cuter with knurling wheels bit I don't think it's going to be beefy enough to apply the right pressure. Good to hear the center punch worked for you I will give it a go.
 
Been there, done that.

I bought a Hand Knurling Tool for $150 USD last year and after mailing it was really, really expensive. I still advocate the centre punch approach :)

Now I feel your pain about that cost $$. At the M14 clinics, I get people to try their hand at both methods. Find out what works! :cool:

Just got the Busy Bee sale catalogue. They have a number of different clamp type knurling tools for under $40. These are intended to be used in a lathe - position the tool, then tighten the knurls as the piece turns. Could be used by hand, the same way that a tubing cutter is used. Turn, tighten, repeat.
