Hello All. First post on a gun site and looking for my first hunting rifle. I have shot a number of right handed guns at the range with my old man, but time to get my own left handed for hunting. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good place for searching specifically for used left handed 30-06? Or what would be better the Ruger M77 standard MK II , M77 Hawkeye, Tikka T# lite or savage 116FSS accutrigger for my first all round hunting rifle. Any help woud be appreciated. I'm trying to keep my budget down as I need to get fully out fitted for this year!

cheers

any of the rifles you mentioned are good to go. I would suggest you look over the exchange forum for a lefty and you might be surprised by what is out there. Good luck...

out of those mentioned id get an M77 Hawkeye. its a bit more expensive but is (IMO) the better action, and the integral bases/QR rings are great and will save you money getting set up. $630 +GST at LeBarons. If you dont have a LeBaron Club Card itll cost you $25 for a year membership but will save you 10% on your gun, scope, ammo, sling, etc. so it easily pays for itself many times over.

there are some good deals to be had in the EE but if this is your first rifle i would go with a new gun and avoid the possibility - however slight - of getting stuck with a POS.

Welcome to the site; I am another of what my coworker calls a "left handed freak". I have a Ruger M77 MKII LH in 30-06 that I actually bought off of here. Left handed rifles have a tendancy to be priced higher new, and sell lower when used. My next one will probably be new, or a custom, but that is only because I am looking for an odd ball.

I'm relatively new to hunting and picked up a real nice used Remington 700 BDL 30-06 lefty at a local gun shop. I really like it - it's classic looking and pretty damn accurate. In looking at similiar on the EE and other places it seems to be holding it's value quite well.
I do agree that if it's your first, a visit to some gun shops to try out different models would be a good idea. It's hard to get an idea of "fit" on the EE.

I was in Wolverine Supplies a couple of weeks ago and they had a wall of left handed hunting rigs. Only noticed because my uncle was looking for one. Could be worth giving Ryan a call.

I'm a lefty, and although I did look at some left handed bolt actions, I ended up going with the Remington 7600 pump action.

Haven't hunted with it yet (very soon:dancingbanana:) but so far, I'm liking it.
