Hello
Just got my winchester 88 back from the gunsmith. It was a 308 but I had it bored out to a 358,just looking for a
load that someone might have that works ,I haven't bought any bullets yet but I am thinking 180 or 200 grs.
Thanks

I like the 200-225 grain bullets for the 358, with the 225 grain Sierra Game King and Nosler Partition being my favourites. I use winchester brass, either 358 headstamp or 308 sized up, a WLR primer and the powder du jour and have at it. Both bullets produce very good hunting accuracy and lay game animals down with authority. Have fun!

The 180 gr. bullet from your .358 just makes the .358 into a ballistically inferior .308 so not sure why you would bother with the rebore is shooting such a light bullet?
IMHO the good .358 bullets start at 200 grains and up, 225 is a good compromise of power and penetration, 250's are deadly on big stuff if not too far away. Crashman suggested two of the best.
Case capacity is limited, so dense ball powder like Win 748 is a good bet, that's what I've used.

The reason I rebored it was that the barrel was shot out and pitted pretty bad,I wanted to go to .311 or.325 with it but gunsmith talked me into .358 since they did make them in the Model 88 and getting dies that already exsist was easier.
Thanks for the tip longwalker & crashman. Think I'll see if I can round up some 225's
