Hi ya folks,

That's right...Im looking for a loud Muzzle brake for my Windham weaponry AR15 to replace my stock flash hider. I don't want an ugly sounding trebely brake though.
I have a 7.5" vz58 in 5.56 with a VZ muzzle brake on it and I love the thunder of that gun and the low muzzle/recoil. Im looking to recreate that action on my AR. Someone suggested the Benny Hill Rolling Thunder brake.
What do you guys suggest?

I have a Rainier arms single chamber on my 14.5 inch and it's not obnoxious loud but it barks pretty good.
I would suggest the ATRS eliminator, my buddy has one on his AR and there is almost no muzzle rise. It is very effective and throws some sound back at you while again not being rediculous.
You realize that by looking for the loudest brake you are going to annoy everyone else shooting at the range and people will think of you the same as those douchebags that put the huge loud exhausts on their imports and diesel trucks? You definitely won't be making any friends at the range.

Your call but I would shift from looking for the loudest to the most effective so you can shoot faster and more accurately.

you forgot about the Harley guys with the exhausts so loud that it sets off car alarms.

Oh no where I go they love loud guns. So no problem there...You should hear my vz58.
Im looking for effectiveness and noise presence. Usually the louder the compensator is, the more effective. Fun factor is the aim, not doing any competition anytime soon.
ATRS eliminators are hybrids (flash hider/muzzle brake) which is not what im looking for. But thanks for your suggestion.

+1 to the ATRS eliminator. Awesome brake very little muzzle rise. A little loud to be shooting indoors. Although I would still strongly recommend it.

I had a YHM Phantom Brake on my 10.5" and it felt like you were getting punched in the forehead every time you shot it. It was so loud that I had to replace it with the Dlask flaming pig knock off.

The NEA Crusader brake is STUPID loud on my 10.5" AR. I can usually hear any background conversations come to a complete halt after taking a few shots with it, and usually have some heads peak over to see what I was shooting. I've had friends shooting beside me either move over or wait until I take a break to continue shooting. It is a little too loud for indoor shooting, but I still like it. :)

Another vote for the YHM Phantom break. Mine keeps my rifle from muzzle rise and it's very loud (not that I wanted it loud).

Im cheking out The NEA Crusader. I like the price/quality....

Aries armour effin-A,

It was so loud and concussive that I have swapped it out for an a2 on my 11.5.

I had the muzzle blast redirected straight at my face and into my nostrils while shooting from a rest which was my inspiration to swap it.

Took a couple of days for my nose to feel right again...

Check out the DeGroat Flash Enhancer, it enhances muzzle flash and increases sound level. From their web site:

If you like that thump in your chest you get when firing a larger caliber weapon, well this is perfect for you as it has been tested to increase the sound pressure level by 9 dB at the shooters ear (hearing protection is REQUIRED).A Flash Enhancer is exactly that "a FLASH ENHANCER", it's not a flash producer. It only enhances the flash into a much bigger and more impressive pattern.

honestly, the A2 brake on my 7inch DPMS kitty kat was pretty much the loudest gun i ever fired. I never got to try another brake on it, but when I'd fire people would duck for cover.

at first i told them my gun was loud and to plug up, they laughed at me and said they were shooting 6mm ppc's and 8mm mausers and what not. I figured OK, fired off a mag, and they litterally were on their knee's with their hands over their ears ducking behind other shooting benches.

I laughed like a pirate.

Seeing as no one as asked yet - why?
My guess is to piss off all the gold trigger fudd's. They piss me off with their 300 win mags shooting 3 boxes of ammo through it just to get it on the paper. I say fight fire with fire and show them how it feels to sit next them.
Whew! That felt good venting like that.
