I do not have one for sale nor am I selling one for a friend.

But today I examined one at a gun show, first time I've ever seen one in person.
Not a bad looking rifle actually.

This is the rifle that Globeco built from Finn capture SVT-40's, they grafted in SMLE barrels in .303 and made a sporter semi in .303 British calibre.

5 round mag I believe.

The seller wants $375 for it.

May be too high, not sure. I have his contact info for anyone who may be interested.

Nothing to do with me, have never met the gent before.

Did you notice how short the gas tube is? Makes for heavy recoil:) I am sorry I sold mine.

Yeah, had a look at it. One thing I was wondering is, can they be taken apart? Someone said they couldn't figure out how to remove the handguard...maybe it was spot welded on or something?

Not a bad looking rig actually.

The buttplate was the original from Globe Firearms and was loose, like the screws were stripped. (just needs 2 oversize wood screws)

Here's mine. I bought it years ago. I haven't fired it, but it is a nice little rifle.

I mentioned this one because it looked pretty nice actually. I have no need of it but thought I'd mention it for someone who might. That loose buttplate was the only thing I saw wrong with a quick look.

I should clarify... as an example of what it is, it's a nice piece... But as a whole I've only heard fairly negative things about them. It's also missing the hand guard from what I remember?

I have one that was owned by my father-in-law. He bought it to hunt with when he was in Cold Lake years ago to help feed his family. (My wife still cringes when you say "moose burgers"). I got it and played around with it at the range for a bit when I found out they can be prone to slam fires if the bolts get too dirty. Nobody hurt but I did have a WTF moment. Otherwise, as been said, it is a neat piece of Canadian firearms history.

On a slightly related note, does anyone know whether or not SVT magazines will work in a 555 without any modifications? I own a 555 (looks nicer than those I have seen on here) and the magazine is stamped on the bottom with:

CAL. 303 BRITISH

There are also three stamps/markings on the back of the magazine which are not entirely clear. I do not have an SVT mag for comparison.

I have started to play with adjusting the gas (it was at the highest setting, flinging destroyed brass all over the place) and it seems to have tighetned up groupings and reduced brass damage/flinging.

I believe that these ugly rifles get an undeserved bad rap...
