so I bought the norinco NP-22 a while back, and I don't really like it, so its going up for sale soon, and im looking at another 9mm.
I cant even explain what it is I don't like about the NP-22, I just don't like it.
I'm looking at the following ( and they will be shooter, putting prolly a few hundred rounds a month through them)(hopefully)

Beretta 92 (or Girsan/Taurus clone)

Browning hi power - I love this gun, and one of the guys at the club has a nice one for sale for 700 dollars, and its a much older model. im just not sure if I want that old of a gun, but it just seems the perfect size gun. I like the idea of the single action. and this is my first choice.

H&K - these seem to be all over the E&E lately. I love that PSP model but its just too expensive for now... but whats the general consensus of the USP and other H&K models? are they worth the premium? if there that awesome why are there so many on the E&E...
Im not sold on plastic guns, but if its nice and shoots well...

No CZ's there just too ugly, and I am just too shallow to look at the personality.

This would be my choice. That's a potential deal. If you end up passing on it, PM me.

Bhp

Once I discovered the BHP MkIII that has been my "go to" for a double stack 9mm pistol.

NAA.

If you like the usp, go for it, it's one of the guns I liked the most. It was slightly over what I wanted to pay and I ended up buying a cz. But if I find a deal on a usp, I'll buy one.

If you want the best bang for the buck close your eyes and buy a CZ Shadow.. it's beautiful especially when it hit the "A" zone time after time..

Another vote for HP.
I own a standard made 2 years ago.
The high polish blue gets me everytime.
Amongst my vast collection of pistols, it is my favorite.

The HP is a great pistol but as noted the older ones can be subject to hard trigger pulls ( caused by the mag safety )
and so so sights.
Have you tried a CZ. ? Also great pistols . IMO, better than the HP.

Jericho 941 in hard chrome. Looks good and shoots well. Roughly same price point as the used hi power you are thinking about.

they had a used Jericho 941 in black with field kit for 450$ at one of the places in town, its a very nicely balanced and the grip fits my hand well. I may end up with one eventually...
but I like the classicness of the HP though, and the one I got to handle seemed to fit me well. I havnt been able to handle a H&K, no one in town has any that I know of, and there not super popular at my club, and for such a high end gun I just don't hear much the CGN forums about them...

Well, if you want something pretty, not too concerned on accuracy, lots of choices. If you want a very good shooter, any CZ will be better than 90% of the rest of all 9 mm's available to you.

Not sure what you mean when you say CZ's are ugly, but we all see things differently.

I have had a number of 9mm's my 2 CZ's (CZ 85 Combat & CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow) are head and shoulders better (more accurate) Even more accurate than my S&W 686 revolver shooting target loads. For a semi auto to be more accurate than a revolver is something I would not have expected.

PPQ M2 and P226 are must have. I personally will get HK P30L in 40S&W because the amazing recoil system. You won't be regret to get a 9mm either.
I myself got the P226, will get the other 2 as mentioned above when my wallet regain some strength.

I wouldn't worry about the Brownings age to much. The miliary ones I used were 40 years old and beat to crap but still worked fine.

just an update, the browning is on hold. I bought a ruger mark 1 .22 instead so that I can get in more range time....more bang for $.
I still want that #### bad, but now that I have 6 guns its just not reasonable to buy a 7th in my situation unless I start exchanging some.
