So i have had a remington 700 AAC-SD (.308) for over 10 years and has served me more then enough. I am in the market for a new rifle i am open to something in 308 or 6.5 creedmoor
i want something light (as i will be going on hunts where a decent amout of walking is taking place) ideally a short barrel (22") and less aswell as bolt action
as for price i dont really have a range but i would say 3500$ With Scope Ideally

the rifles i have looked at are Kimber 84 Adirondack and Tikka T3X

Browning A-bolt II in 325 WSM and of course a Leupold in 3.5-10 x 40mm.
Iffen big game is your quarry you want bigger is better for that knock down power when you need it.
Aim small, miss small and you are golden.

The T3X stainless models get the nod from me, although they are all long action so thats something to consider when choosing which cartridge to go with. The superlite model is 6.2lbs and leaves plenty in your budget

Have a look at a Browning X-Bolt. Buddy and I were in the same boat and both got one.
Comfortable to carry and very accurate. The Hells Canyon is awesome!

The original Remington mountain rifle if you can find one.
I have two that I use, its like carrying a nice 22.
There is one listed in the exchange in 270 win.

Go shoulder some light weight rifles and see what fits you best. I went with kimbers cause they felt right. Barret Fieldcraft is another lightweight rifle worth looking at imo, you can check them out on Precision Optics website. The kimber 84M is a nice rifle but also check out the 84L, 30-06 length action, I have one in 270 and love it.

Why not a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight? It comes in both .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor. Then there's the Model 70 Extreme Weather SS as well if you are concerned about hunting in 'extreme' conditions. Controlled round feed and won't break the bank like some of the suggestions on here. Yes, I own one. Outstanding in every respect. Also, based on your budget, you'll have at least $2k left for an optic.
