Looking for a new, cheap bolt action

That's a no brainer. Savage. Norc=junk

I have 2 Savages, and one is the most expensive gun I own. (.223) I love Savage, but Norincos aren't junk. Pay less=you get less, plain and simple.

BTW~if any of you have a plastic Savage stock that would fit my 93FV (.22WMR) I'll take it. Price of shipping + box of ammo? :) Have some tinkering to do. I'm just north of Toronto.

I have 2 Norinco's and they both function fine ,they shoot decent considering I only paid $150 for one and $75 for the other. both will shoot 1/2'-3/4" groups at 50 yds.
I also have old Mossbergs . They will shoot as well as anything new being offered.

I'd give another +1 to Savage rimfires.
Made in Lakefield, ON
Very inexpensive.
Extremely accurate.
My BSEV shoots holes through holes at 50M.

:) Thought this was about suggesting a "new, cheap bolt action". Norincos, Savages, Marlins~all decent options. Not sure what brought the haters out on this one.

Go for the Savage! Bought the most basic model I could find, still had a fully adjustable accu-trigger, checkered stock, 10rnd mag. and iron sights. functions flawlessly. $209 at Wholesale sports. they don't include bases to mount your scope on, but I got those for an extra $16. Fit and finish are OK, nothing to write home about, the mags feel and look cheap. Try the accu-trigger out though, once you do it's hard to look back:]

+1 on the savage... i got a mark2 F ( i wish i got the FV for the look...) and LOVE it!!! i have done alot of polishing to the bolt and its a bit better than factory, but it was fine out of the box... i just like messing with stuff....

the glass is a simmons 3-9x40, its great, its a very tacticool scope, side focus, tall uncapped turrets with big number and nice "clicks" that you can feel/hear, its a nice scope i like it :D

If you can snag one, the laminate Savage stocks are much nicer than the plastics. I see the Savage/Marlin's as a basic rifle design-wise. The Norinco is actually a knock off of a better design (CZ), so except for the poor Norinco mag (can replace with a CZ one), it all comes down to build quality, where the Norinco's can be hit or miss.
I think the main reason people seem to prefer the Savages is that they are typically very accurate, esp in the heavy barrel versions. The Norinco's are the same or a little less accurate, though that opinion is from internet browsing.

Bottom line: don't rule out a Norinco if you can inspect it first. I have the short version and it doesn't suffer much compared to my CZ's.

I just ordered 2 husqvarna's from Tradeex, older ones in good shape . One is a youth single shot and the other is a single shot hex with a scope. Both together came in at $220 plus tax and about $40 shipping, great quality rifles for learning on and plinking!
