im looking at a 270 win , as a collection too my deer guns is this one too much or what is a better choice ??? im looking for something with lower recoil cause i got shoulder problems . so what is would be your choice if you were in my shoes ......thanks for the input >>>> hound13
 
First I recommend punctuation and grammar... next I recommend a semi auto in 7mm-08... this will handle any medium to moose sized game and will be as light recoiling as it can be at this energy level.
 
If you are interested only in a DEER rifle then I suggest a .243. Maybe a Winchester Featherweight for example. Easy on the shoulders!
 
260 or 7mm08 would be my recommendations. Both can be loaded for light recoil, and are very effective on deer sized game.

Stupid comments like this is why I choose to spell like a moron on purpose . How does grimmer and punctutated apply to shooting ?

Perceived recoil is a lot to do with stock fit, but a good recoil pad will help too.
As for OP's question, my vote also goes to the .243 out to about 300y or 30-30 for the woods/200y
 
Felt recoil is caused by a lot of things. The hardest recoiling rifle i ever had was a Savage 110 in 7 mag, stock design/fit was the problem. Now i shoot three different Rum chamberings, yet found my Tikka T3 30-06 to be excessive. A Limbsaver recoil pad tamed the T3, and its now my go to rifle.

Trying to find a actual light recoil rifle, just specifically for Deer may be a case of experimenting with specific rifles...not endorsing a make and model. Take steps to handle recoil at the range, then try a few rounds without aids from hunting positions. Remember that one feels recoil at the range, but not when shooting at animals.

It kicking is the only real reason I kept it, I let other people try it when they get the idea of a 243 for their kid because someone told them it doesn't recoil. Their experiences with it are not much different than my own.

An old timer once told me it is because of the bottle neck case it gives a sharper hit and the 308 is more of a push....maybe he was on to something?
