Hey guys, im looking to buy to a new (or used) non-restricted rifle, my choices are a CZ858 (or CSA VZ) or the new T97NSR.

Are the CSA VZ58 Good rifle? They go for around 900$ vs 1k for T97nsr

I have alot of 7,62x39 at home (just sold my sks) so thats a + for the CZ858 and the price of the rifle is a bit lower.

Just looking for a fun reliable medium caliber rifle that has a detachable mag.

What do you think? thanks

Personal opinion, I don't like the look of the T97 whatsoever and due to the fact that I'm a lefty makes it even more less appealing.
So I will say CZ858 all the way. Love my rifle, zero issues.

I've read that some people have been having feeding issues with the T97, and some filing/shaving is required to make it work more reliably.

cz858 has a large following and dealers will supply various accessories at reasonable prices. You can buying used one's for reasonable prices

T97 all the way! :)
I have both a t97 and a csa in .223.
I like them both for different reasons.
The T97 is nice. Some people have trouble because they are using mags other than USGI metal mags. It was designed for the metal mags.
I also owned a t97 the before they were reclassifed and put 3500 rounds through it with out any malfunctions. So yes they are reliable. Also its a bullpup and is nice and comfortable to carry out in the field for plinking. The drawbacks are the location of the mag release and the saftey. They do take a bit of getting used to.
The CSA that I have is in .223 and really reliable as well. 1900 rnds and not a single malfunction yet. Its cool because it has the m4 stock and black furniture. Accesories are everywhere and you are able to customize it to what ever you want. Also a comfortable rifle to pack around.
It really boils down to your taste
Hope this helps

I forgot looks make a good rifle... Hows that ugly pencil barrel? atleast my t97 looks normal compared to its other variants. They both can have issues out of the box. I love my t97 way more than i ever did my cz858. I havent had a single failure with 80 rounds.

i was in your boat last week. i chose the t97, got it today, and man is it a nice rifle. seems to be very well made. At first i thought, man thats an ugly rifle, but holding it has changed that for me. i love it!

I'd go with the t97

CSA makes ####ty Vz58. If CZ were still available it would be another story.

So your saying T97 is better because it has a thicker barrel....

Btw, a CZ858/VZ58 is a lot cheaper than T97.

I like how your commenting on a gun you never owned before..

Looks like I struck a nerve with the troll.. The OP asked what I thought and I responded with my opinion.

I have owned both and was disappointed with the 58 purchase. They look and feel extremely cheap.

I've got a CZ 858 and love it. Simple, reliable, easy to clean/maintain. Had it for coming up on 5 years now. The T97 just doesn't feel right to me.... I like the tavor and rfb, but t97 just feels different... no idea why. Plus it's norc which I am absolutely not a fan of.

Wow! 80 rounds without a single failure! That's impressive! It's official now, the t97 is a reliable gun.
Would you believe I had 1000 rounds of surplus through my 858 without one failure of any kind? Or any modifications to help its reliability.
Personally. I'd go cz858, even if you do get one win the gremlin it's a easy fix. And I wouldn't toutch anything norinco with a 10 foot pole.
