Looking for a new rifle !

I agree, you can get a whole lot more of anything if you let someone else take the hit. I bought a used Omega from here last month and with the money I saved I can look for a rifle as well
 
What are you looking to hunt? This should make some difference as too light a rifle in a heavier caliber (in case you're a moose junky) won't be much fun to work loads up for.

How heavy is too heavy?

Blue steel or stainless?
 
I'm a big fan of buying great used hunting rifles. I have 2 Sako carbine rifles. An AIII in .338 win mag and an AV in 30.06 both beautiful quick handling reliable rifles that's good out to about 300yds for me. I got them a few years ago well below their market value. I also picked up a used Marlin guid gun in 45.70. It was used but not abused and another great deal for under $600 CDN. Finding these rifles at the great prices was like nailing a trophy buck, scoring with Jessica Alba, and winning the lottery all at the same time.
 
Well I found the gun that I need to save some cash for, the Tikka T3 hunter. Nice wood stock, nice action, just add cash. The used ones are probabbly extinct.
