Hey all,

Im looking to buy a semi auto black rifle (similar to an ar, non restricted though)

Some of the criteria I would prefer:
-$1200 or below
-Rock Solid Reliable
-223 / 556 OR 7.62x39
-Rifle has to be NEW NEVER FIRED no surplus or anything

Thanks in advance for your help.

What about a red rifle in black furniture?

I think that'll be your only option, to fill "rock solid reliable", and $1200.

Edit to change, "only option" to best option.

lol so by saying no surplus rifles, you've essentially cutoff most if not all of the 7.62x39 options. For that price point i too would recommend the T97, in the long run you can upgrade to the FTU and whatever charging handle options are now out there.

The SAN's are also back for the moment, they are non-restricted if you already own one but prohibited if you do not currently own one .cp:

This is more about me venting to legislative retardation than anything else though:p

Sounds like what you want is a Mini 14, stay away from the SU16
Why do you say that, I have over a 1000 rnds through mine and it works perfect.i can dump 10 mags as fast as I can and not one single malfunction . Haven't had a ftf, fte or stove pipe yet. I know there are a few with broken receivers maybe that has something to do with the pin that keeps it fr folding in half. They used to fall out but that's fixed now. Just saying if someone fired the gun while pin was out it could be a problem. When the pin is in tight it supports the receiver.

I was going to get a mini but found it didn't have the black rifle look, kinda Frankensteinish. And a bull pulp is .. Well ,a bull pup , can't compare cause it's a completely diff gun. And if your looking at the XCR , well it's ok but I wonder why there's 2 or 3 for sale everyday on the EE? For $2400 + I would expect a lot more than what it has to offer. It's best feature is changeable barrels but then again how accurate is the 308 barrel.

Because the stipulation was "rock solid reliable" and despite your luck with the SU16 no one could say its reliable with a straight face given it's very recent track record.

I understand what your saying but I've done a google search and can find only a few cases with the receiver issue, out of thousands of these guns in use. I know they were having issues with the pin that keeps the stock from folding, people were saying that the pin was falling out. If pin was out and stock was not fully open even a fraction I could see that as a problem, maybe.theres a section on the stock that touches the receiver and this would give it support.Anyway I understand the concerns but for now I'm very happy with my SU16:)

Its funny how much hate keltec has. If Vault didnt add so much margin and sold them for what they are in the US. I bet tunes would change.
Between my friend and I, we have owned all keltec rifles. Other than his rfb having one issue. They all shoot fine.
Ive also found that most who dislike the keltec have only held one and not even shot it or havent held one at all. Then for some reason they are now keltec experts and know about all their guns. Just cause a few guns have issues doesnt mean every guns a dud.

For that price, your best bet is t97 with flat top upper. 1200$ really limits u to black rifles as most seem to cost around the 3K mark

I would suggest you do what I'm doing and save money for something good like XCR, tavor, sg542 or ACR DMR

This. T97 would be your best bet.

That sounds about right, I load up 8 ,Lar 15 mags and two Beowulf mags and dump them mag after mag, and have zero issues, the only cleaning it gets is a bore snake and a bit of spray lube.
