Recently moved to Ottawa and with the ranges closed I dont know where I can shoot. I just got a load of match bullets delivered and loaded some to test but I'm not sure where. Been looking on crown land atlas and havent been able to cone up with anything that looks like a possibility. I'm also pretty nervous about shooting in an area I dont know like I knew the areas back home and had many places to go shoot.

I know some wont want to give up their secret spots lol i dont have a problem driving a bit to a good place

there is lots of crown land in lanark county but turkey season opens April 25th.

it will be busy in the bush this weekend. Lots of ATV's out as well.

I only saw that it is closed to overnight camping. If I'm incorrect can you send me something saying otherwise?

I thought it was closed to all general use activities. But I can't find an official source on that that and the Crown land use Atlas confuses the heck out of me on the best of days.

Pretty well the whole municipality of Ottawa is a no shooting area if I remember correctly so you will have to go a ways out of town for sure.

Even if it wasnt I'd definitely be leaving the area to shoot. I'm just located in Ottawa. Hoping for something within an hour and a half drive

you can discharge on the east side of Frank kenny rd. but thats all private property (Mostly farms)

If you go west there is lots of crown land between the 417 and 7 but like I said above turkey opens Saturday so expect guys to be upset if you start shooting

OP, I was in the same situation as yourself being as I am from Toronto. After discussions with forum members, the MNRF, and individual counties I've been informed that there are two sets of rules that apply.

1. Look for Crown Land on the Atlas. Ensure that it is General Use Area only, and that no additional rules apply to it. (Should say so on the individual detail in the find information tab)
2. Then check with the individual county that it is in. Sometimes, county laws are different

Once both are clear, enjoy : )

cheers!
