Looking for a product recommendation

I am looking to reinforce a wood fore end on a rem 1100 ( from the inside). It originally had a bit of fiberglass mesh laid in but it has peeled off. I could use fiberglass again but because was wondering if there was a product out there with less odor. Would there be an epoxy resin out there suitable for this ?

Not a gunsmith by any stretch but I always thought the mesh on the inside of an 1100 forearm was for thermal protection, not reinforcement…but I could be wrong (?).
