Looking for a rangefinder. What do you recommend? Leupold RX-600/750 maybe?

I've been looking at buying a rangefinder for a while now and when I thought I knew what I wanted I discovered the Leupold RX-600.

Here's what I'm looking for:
- reliable
- waterproof
- distance in meters but not a deal breaker
- at least 600 yr, if it can go up to 900 yr even better
- compact preferably
- cheap, preferably $150 or less shipped.

I thought a used Bushnell might be the one but then I looked at the Leupold RX-600 and now I'm leaning towards the Leupold. To make matters worse, I looked at the RX-750.
The 750 has rifle/bow mode, inclinometer, compass, temperature, last target, ballistic range and a few other features.
The problem is, the cheapest I could find it was $250.

What do you think, should just forget about the Leupolds and buy something cheap that works or should I do my best and buy the RX-750? Are the extra features on the 750 worth the extra money compared to the 600?

I love my rx600, but...
I wish I had manned up and bought the 750. Those few extra features sure would be nice!

Save your money and wait until you can afford a Zeiss/Leica/Swarovski.

You will regret it later if you buy a <$200 cheapy thinking that you'll never need anything more. I know I did. Now I own and use a Leica LRF1200 Scan. It'll be time to upgrade again soon.

I have the RX-600 that I bought from Bass Pro last year. I rejected the bushell because they where to big. I could have gone with the 750 but for my basic needs the RX-600 was perfect for me. I don't shoot long range... all under 100 yards. Just for the hell of it after reading this post I ranged an apartment building from out my window... ranged at 496 meters but took some aiming at something on the building that would reflect the laser back. Trees around me weren't hard to range, furthest was 367 meters.

I have a 750 and it is ok. I found out after I bought it that it's still only good for 550 yards. It does more but is more complex to operate. In retrospect, based on the reviews, I would have been better off with the redfield. It is rated at 98/100 on a couple sites. No angle calculation though just point n shoot

Mil-dot scopes are also range finders, I have two from Hi-Lux (leatherwood) one 4-16x http://leatherwoodoptics.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=32&Itemid=37 which is on my AIA Enfield, very nice scope. The other is their Camputer ATR M1200 6-24x http://leatherwoodoptics.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=27&Itemid=42 which is on my Rem 700. Was thinking of getting myself the M1000 for my M14 for xmas. All are mil-dot, which I prefer.
