Looking for a rangefinder

I golf, I hunt.
So I want a rangefinder that can pull double duty.
I will admit I've never looked through a rangefinder. Is there a difference between a golf and shooting
rangefinder?

I can't imagine there is.

I haven't looked at prices, maybe golf one cost less or the other way round.

What range are you hunting at? Ranging animals is usually around 1/2 of stated max.

Where I hunt at I mostly know the ranges, 100 to 170.
I have markers, rocks bushes etc. But if I go somewhere unknown I'd like to know

I’ve got an old Bushnell 1600 that is really solid out past 500 for pretty much everything. I would look for a Bushnell/Vortex/Leopold/Leica etc on sale with a stated max of 1000 or better. Used can sometimes be a pain if it’s not your buddy you know.
