hey there team,

im looking for a place - (shack/cabin/lean-to type of deal) - somewhere on a lake, somewhere northern ontario - fly in only - with no chance of encountering company for at least a month....

if anyone has a spot, or knows of a spot, any help would be greatly appreciated

the idea is to 'get away from it all' for a little while june-ish 2011.....

thanks in advance!

Bring your own gear ( canoe, tent..ect) and hire a bush plane to fly you in to a spot YOU choose. Google earth is an awesome tool for that sort of thing.

I once spent a week in the bush with a small pack. I slept in what I built (lean-to style shelter). My food fit inside a very small bear proof barrel - a little larger than a football.

I think what you're planning is awesome and wish you all the best. Pack a small digital camera and take lots of photos of your camp and show us some of your skills - thing you will make while there alone. Or simply stuff you did to make yourself more comfortable.

Keep a diary of your hunting, fishing, trapping and just general routines and the weather, of course. Keep a record of the animals that you come across. Basically make notes of everything. Do this at night when you're settled in having a cup of Labrador tea and have only your thoughts to contend with.

Good luck..

"...thought you guys all had cottages in Ont..." Only the wealthy or those who inherited.
"...for at least a month..." Fishing only in June. No small game hunting in Northern Ontario from 16 June.
A month will cost a fortune, but do a net search for Northern Ontario fishing. Black flies the size of condors too. Unless there's a week or so of very hot weather. Then you get mosquitoes the size of condors.

Someone mentioned at work the other day that a guy name Gillis out of fort nelson will rent you a cabin on a lake 21 miles off the beaten track for 10 bucks a night. 20 pound pike and all the bears and mosquitos you can handle.

Pretty much any big game outfitter in the north would likley rent you a cabin and fly you in for reasonable money during the off season.

The yukon can offer you small game hunting (porqupine and relaible fishing) Head down the Ross river maybe
