I'm in need of a Sauer expert, I've decided on buying a Sauer 202 Take down “Exquisite” and need some answers, I'm not looking for advice or speculation, or interested in any other brand at this point. So here goes:

On Sauer's site, in some pictures the take down is shown with a nice chrome or stainless piece of metal where the stock adjoins, I really like this, but I've seen other pictures where it doesn't have it, and the 200 model doesn't have it, does anyone know if its standard now? or what denotes getting that option?

Also I want to order the rifle in two calibers (Again, not interested in what calibers are better, or what calibers I should be ordering it in, these are the calibers I want) 270 Winchester, and 300 Weatherby Mag. And they list on there site "Extra Sets" that include "barrel + bolt + 3 shot magazine" or 2 shot magazine depending on caliber, so my question is, if I order the main rifle in 270 Winchester, is this all I need to change the caliber and I'm done?

Also they have several different grades of wood, I'm basically looking for the exact one (Wood and Chrome attach point) as in the picture, I know its hard without seeing the rifle in person, but would anyone know what grade that wood would be so I can match it when I find a place to order it?

Last and most important, does anyone know where (preferably Alberta) That I can order this fine rifle and accessories, Also looking to get the SAUER Gun Case “Hatari”, or “Exquisite”, the SAUER Roller Bag, as well as the SAUER Ammunition Pocket, and SAUER Tool Pocket. I'd also like to get the 300 Weatherby with a muzzle brake, but the 270 not.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any and all help. Hopefully theres a Sauer expert among us.

On the picture you show the place where the 2 pieces of the 2 piece stock adjoin is covered by the bolt handle. The white vertical dashes on the stock forward of there is glare from the flash or some such thing.

I believe this normally comes blued, but have your dealer ask, it should be available however you want it, Sauer will do custom details. That takedown plate is present on all the takedown rifles, so what colour you want it shouldn't be a hassle.

Yep, thats all you need.

I am trusting that you looked through the custom wood shop?

To find out that specific wood, I would suggest an email to Sauer, mention the picture, or include it, its web location, and ask them, they should be able to tell you outright.

Regarding a brake etc, again, the dealer should be able to communicate your wishes to Sauer, and it shouldn't be a problem.

Try TSE, Redleg or TSEjr. You can find them in the dealer area on here, they carry SIG, deal with FN-Nichols, and so should easily be able to order the rifle for you, and get all the fine points worked out.

Remember, Sauer will make it as you want it, for the extra cost, but that means don't accept anything you don't want. :)

Thanks guys, all good info, I did eventually find the custom wood part on the site, and if you register it lets you reserve a set you like, and fill in a custom order form, which they send to a Canadian dealer (Rnicholls is the only one listed on there site) for them to contact, I phoned FN (the Rnicholls department that handles sauer) and he was very nice, finally someone willing to custom order for me, I phone another dealer in Edmonton and they were very rude, not willing to even phone to get a price, guess they just want to sell what they had in stock and not what the customer wanted. I just really wish there were more pictures on there site (on all manufactures sites for that matter, can never get enough pictuers) of things like the fluted barrel. By TSE and TSEjr I assume thats "The shooting edge"?

:EDIT: Just visited the dealer forum, and answered my own question about TSE and TSEjr

Thanks again guys, glad to know I can always rely on fellow gunnutz.

I've tried to get a couple of things for my 200 on 2 different occassions through TSE. Both times the counter staff took my number and said they would "look into it". that was about 2 years ago so I'm expecting that phone call any day now.

If you're in or around cowtown the crappy tire on Mcleod trail deals with FN and claims to sell Sauer but my experiences to date have been as successful as dealing with TSE. Try contacting Martini Hagen and seeing if they can help you out.

Thanks for all the info guys, I finally got a document together with all the options I want (changed my mind on caliber, going with 270 Win and 375 H&H) and sent it of to the importer for Canada, he then phoned me up, told me to pick a dealer (I went with TSE, as I bought my Kimber Warrior there and got excellent service). He even phoned The Shooting Edge for me, gave them a quote, and all I had to do was phone for it, I'll be making the trip to Calgary at the end of the month (3 hour trip for me, so going to make a weekend of it) and put my downpayment down for the Sauer 202. Again, good to know I can always count on CGN's for good quick answers.
