Very true. But although controlled feed has some great advantages, it does require the cartridge to be "picked up" out of the magazine. I like the option of being able drop a round in and close the bolt, in those rushed situations. I have broken the extractor on a controlled fed bolt before from this, and for me it just doesn't seem to justify anything over push feed. Different strokes for different folks is all.
The Ruger M77 can be top fed without any issues. So can the Winchester M70. Any that I've owned at least. Best of luck with your rifle search. No matter which rifle you end up with, the 375 Ruger is a dandy...![]()
Was about to say the same think. I can top feed both my Rugers and my Win 70 CRF. One of my Ruger is an early MKII which is actually a push feed claw extractor.
