Looking for a semi-auto--Benelli M4 or Beretta 1301 Tactical?

I have a Benelli M4 with all the bells and whistles from Tacord. I wish I was able to have a longer barrel for hunting with it.

Are the 1301 and versa max able to take longer barrels? At least a 24"?

I have all of the previously mentioned guns. Can't say for sure which is my favorite as I favor my TacOrd pumps for most uses in the woods, the semi's are fun for steel and targets, backcountry clays etc.

S&J 1301 is light and seems to (felt) recoil harder, M4 is smooth but heavier, TacOrd Versamax is maybe a sweet spot but it should be as caseys a wizard! I'm going to have to choose one to keep eventually, but likely whichever one sells last.

For the Versa Max, any other Versa Max barrels ought to work

1301 is available with two barrel lengths. I have the 1301 competition. Pretty darn sure the action, bolt, and barrel is also the same as my duck gun.

The 1301 comp comes in 21”&24” barrels. They aren’t compatible with the tactical. I don’t know about their other models.

I was torn between the 1301 and the m4. I decided to go m4 because I felt if I went 1301 I would always wish I had got the m4 instead, it's just so iconic. Having said that I still want a 1301, but it's not as strong an urge as I feel it would have been if I'd gone the other way. The m4 had been flawless btw, buck and slugs down to 1100 fps target loads with zero issues at all. I think it is my favorite gun I have had the pleasure of using.

I was torn between the 2 as well, decided to build a M1301T

The new Mossberg 940 tactical is sweet as well.

That thing is an absolute beauty! I love the OD green receiver.
One thing I do really like about the 1301 is the stock options it has. The m4 is much more limited in this.
On the other hand I liked being able to make the Americans jealous with the factory Benelli collapsible stock. 922R is canada level stupid. Hopefully I'll end up with both the 1301 and m4 eventually.

The M4 cannot be denied, but I knew I couldn't put a folding stock or hydraulic buffer tube on it and that's what led me down this path. No regrets.

Oh my lord, that's beautiful
If I was gonna get a 1301, I was considering an ODG colour and slapping on black aftermarket parts...so this is what it'd look like!

Best case scenario, I'll end up owning both (and plus some other recommendations made here lol)
I only limited myself to 1 just so I don't put myself in absurd amounts of debt trying to buy the guns and the food for em LOL

Does your sling set up not interfere with cycling?

I do not operate the SG in that state on a regular basis, usually the sling is being used. Haven't had any cycling or ejection issues when used in that configuration, the sling is not "piano string' tight.

I was just curious as it looked pretty taught and across the action. I may look into adding a traditional sling to my comp model for bear hunting. I havent looked into the hardware yet but it did come with sling attachments just no rear anchor bolt for it

I understand, fair observation. Get a sling stud for the stock like on the comp pro, if you want I will send you the one I'm not using out of the 1301T stock. Just pm me if you want.

Did you add a hydraulic buffer to it? If so, how does it shoot?

Thanks

The hyd buffer tube is mounted in behind the MDT folding adapter in the pic. Softer shooting/reduced muzzle rise/quicker follow up shots/adds weight to the rear of the shotgun helping in recoil mitigation and balance.

Please keep in mind that I operate this SG with 1 arm, if it benefits me that much it would certainly benefit others.

I plan to put a hyd buffer tube system on a Tikka Tac A1

Do you have a build list, more curious about the hydraulic buffer stock system

You can order the "Mesa Tactical kit" through "Tactical Ordnance" https://tacord.com/

h ttps://mesatactical.com/products/leo-gen-ii-telescoping-stock-adapter-for-beretta-1301-12-ga.html

It uses a "Kynshot" buffer system that's used on several platforms. h ttps://www.kynshot.com/
