Looking for a starter .22LR

As my first rifle, the Ruger 10-22 would be my recommendation if you're looking for good times. But if you're looking to hone your marksmanship, try a bolt action first.

Love my single shot Cooey, paid $125 for it and it can't be beat IMHO. If you get access to the EE there are tons of Cooey's on there, they are nice cheap guns and reasonable accurate for the most part. Just make sure you aren't over paying, a single shot should be around $100, if it's more then that, it better be mint. Repeaters usually go a little higher, around $140-200 depending on condition.

You will likely eventually end up with a whole bunch of .22s and semi-auto is great, but consider the suggestions wrt lever or bolt action. It really makes you feel like you are shooting when you have to do something to chamber the next round. Having said that, I love my 10-22 :)
Welcome!

I would also recommend the old cooey, most are over priced though. Watch for a sale on a good bolt action, a Salvage or even a Norinco. I do like the 10-22 as well i have 2 but usually grab one of my CZ's from thr rack when heading out shooting. CZ's are nice but a step up in pricing.
