I'm looking for some bullet molds and some other stuff. Anyone know of a shop in Canada that does mail order that might stock bullet molds and such? I tried Wholesale Sports and they show stock but a call to the stores finds only empty shelves. Mostly looking for LEE gear and checking for Lyman and RCBS molds.

I may order in from the US. Anyone have experience doing that regarding wait times, etc.?
 
Factory sales dot com is your new friend. remove spaces
2 weeks and its at your door. The reason I use them is its always in stock cause they are right across from Lee's factory. In a few days I expect to receive 4 molds and 2 sets of handles. happy casting
 
Thanks been on thier website lately. I'm so tired of looking. One stop shopping and limited backorders are a dream!

Was shipping through USPS and Canada Post? Always my preference.

A Canadian supplier of Lee stuff is Higginson Powders dot com..
I have dealt with them in the past and they usually have a good stock of what they list..
Having said that I will probably try Factory Sales next time..
I haven't found any vendor here in Canada that carries Lyman or RCBS casting supplies and buy them from BACO known as Buffalo Arms Company..
Since you are just getting started I would suggest that you buy a couple of cheap Lee molds to get the hang of it, then skip Lyman and RCBS and buy from BRP, Accurate Molds or NOE group buys..
I would also suggest that you buy Lee's 20# pot over their 10# pot, esp if you plan on casting a lot of boolits at one sitting..
Main reason is a better head on you pour stream and a more consistent temp. control..

I sent Higginsons an email to check stock before Factory Sales. I try Canada first in most purchases.

As with anything on the internet I'd say the drip problem is much ado about nothing. Start with a clean mix, and if you get any dripping you turn a rod back and forth a few times and problem solved. My buddy has a mini vise grip sitting vertically on the same rod to accomplish the same thing.:)

When I cast its all about production. That being said I have the lee 20# pot and it drips when its clogged with something. Clean it out with a fine 1/16" wire and no more drips.
My 20# pot has poured 12000 bullets and maybe had dripping issues 3 times. Ladle pouring gets old fast. I've never had a bullet mold "backordered" from Factory sales!
The sweet part of casting is the money savings first and the knowledge of "I made that bullet that just hit that 500 yard target"!!
Yes they ship through the mail USPS & CP.

I would suggest that you call Higginsons as they can/sometimes be slow to answer their e-mail.. :)

Well you guys got me thinking LEE bottom pour. I also realized the Calgary Gun Show is next weekend so I'll try and see about possible gear thier before I order.

I'll call Higginsons tomorrow and check stock. I also contacted Budget.

I think I'll start a thread on bottom pour.

Higginsons had all I wanted in stock and when I compared price it was competitive enough with Factory Sales higher shipping costs.

So far very happy after a call to them.
 
Higginson's is where I try to get most of my stuff. I can talk to someone, I can e-mail and get a response same day, I can go there and see and touch things, I don't like buying things unseen.

Here is what he said when I contacted him for lube yesterday. Also if he has it in stock he ships right away.

We also currently have a Lee mold sale which is going on until april 25th.
We are able to apply the sale to any lee mold orders placed prior to april 25th
Here are the sale details:
Double cavity mold $20 each. Hollow base and mini ball molds $22 each. 6 cavity molds $40 each.
Slug molds $22 each. Buck shot moulds $55 each. Sale until April 25th
 
I placed an order with Higginsons because they had everything in stock. I was in a hurry.

Budget Shooters, Dragon Lube, and Mystic Percision have been great contacts and offered lots of help. I will do business with them all in time.

I've had less than ideal service from some larger local suppliers and think that these internet suppliers are critical to all of us. Locally I've learned that if supplies are not openly displayed on the shelf it is worthless to ask about stock. Also there is often no price tags on stuff or the shelves and then they get annoyed when one asks the price after waiting in line.

It seems bulk orders and combined orders might be the way of the future. Sharing shipping drives the mail order costs down per item.

Once I have a better handle on my powder needs I'll try a local group buy from Higginsons as an example. This takes advantage of thier 21 # free shipping offer.
