Not as long as the ball bearing (BB) in the charging handle (CH) that the detent hosts still locks. Though over time, the steel of the BB in the CH will wear the softer aluminum of the receiver away, likely causing it to not hold the CH in place. could eventually be fixed with a bit of JB weld/ some blending.

Still an odd design choice, and one not exclusively used here. It's a quirk also shared with the right-side bolt release paddle (which is also an aluminum piece pressing on a steel bolt catch plunger, wearing a divot in the underside which can potentially cause the oft-heard of finicky right-side bolt release).

It's something also seen in the design of the Raven, to my understanding. A spring steel catch holds the CH into an aluminum hollow in the receiver. This will also wear over time/ dry firing. I'm amazed that Canadian manufacturers continue to make design decisions like this. It's like they never expected their consumer to dry fire.

Thank you!

Newbie here, i have registered but i do not know how to start a new thread to ask a question so i am asking here. Please forgive me if not allowed. This is my first time ever posting a question.

I bought a BCL SRV2 a month back and have about 300 rounds through it. I clean it regularly and i use cross mags in the gun.

On my last visit to the range my gun’s bolt started to stick open after every shot with ammo still in the magazine.
Is there anything i can do to fix this (other than buying a new gun)
Thanks in advance.
Also can anyone let me know how to properly start a new thread?

Right above the forum’s name, the “Black Rifles” header is the “Post New Thread” button. You could start by posting an Introduction of yourself in the Greetings and Introduction subforum.

As far as your issue goes, I’ve had that quite a few times as well. As best I could tell, that can happen due to several things. But more detail would be nice: is the bolt locking fully back? Or is the body of the bolt getting hung up? Are the bullets jamming going into the chamber? Do magazines fully seat in the magwell?

Mine was being caused by the bolt not fully travelling back, which was due to undergassing caused by loose gas block set screws/plug. As a start, you could check the tightness of that hardware.

In regards to the bolt locking back every time, I found that that the cross mags could be over inserted and caused this to happen. I switch to PMAG and Hera Arms mags and it seemed to fix the problem.

Oil/lube the track that the side charging handle runs in. They're kinda rough if you run them dry.

And yeah, the Siberians are kind of prone to over insertion, and cross-mags are VERY prone to over insertion on multiple platforms, so combining the two doesn't work out so well. My steel e-lander mags work perfect, and will only over insert if I SLAM them in on an open bolt. Plow mags in on a closed bolt, insert like a reasonable human on an open bolt, lol.

Thank you everyone for their insights. Did not expected the answers this quick. Really appreciate the time everyone took to explain.
Thanks

The bolt is locking all the way back as i can just press the bolt release and the bolt slams home perfectly. No bullets jamming no other issues like failure to extract . Next time when I go to the range I will do a “tug test” to be sure. If there is another way to test if the magazine is seated properly please let me know as well. As i said i am a newbie and relatively new into firearms. I will take all the info and tricks i can get.

Ah! Finally i know how to reply to a post properly lol.
Did check the gas block. All the screws and plugs are tight. Did apply blue threadlocker to gas block set screws and also did tighten the gas block regulator screw . l Will check proper seating of the magazine this time when i go to the range. Also i have one pmag and i will buy other magazines before going to the range and let you guys know if that fixed the problem.

Looking forward to hearing back on your update. If enough folks are talking about the gun, maybe we as a community can make strides toward resolving the issues this particular rifle has. It seems like a lot of people have an issue similar to yours, and little to no conversation about what causes it.

Today i went to the range and there were about 4 times the bolt got stuck all the way back as if the magazine was empty even there were ammo in the mag. I bought and tried a new promag magazine too. Pmag had this bolt locking problem twice. It happened twice in cross mag and not once in promag. I am chalking this up to the magazine.
I also had my mag release paddle got loose because the screw got loose today. Will put some lock tite and tighten it up a little and try again.
Will let you guys know how it goes.
