Looking for a little advice on a new AR.
Budget: 1500-1800
Purpose: I love the pistol shooting sports, so with the new AR, I would like it to be fairly multigun ready or at least close to it. I know people say “buy once, cry once”—but I am looking to get the best rifle possible in this price range (the HK is my lottery winnings option :) ) I am also aware that people will say, that I will end up ripping the guts out over time…but in the present, terribly restricted playtime with the C1 and C7 MANY years ago, is the extent of my engineering skills—so building one from scratch not an option...at this time.

Narrowed it down to a few potential suitors—if I have missed any in my search please advise. I figured there is a wealth of knowledge here; plus, many of you own or have owned these rifles and could give me your thoughts.
Contenders:
Stag Arms 3g
Ruger 556 (fb)
Daniel Defense v11

Thanks in advance,
fignut

Out of your 3…I'd choose the DD. A little more will get you a LMT:) Other more knowledgeable AR guys will be chiming in shortly….

At that budget the DD gun is a no brainer. They are a top notch reliable, well made AR. I know a guy that is a "contractor" that uses DD when working overseas and speaks highly of them.

I have a DD M4V5, don't hesitate to buy !
You could get one off the EE for pretty cheap.
I've installed on mine Geiselle SSA-E Trigger
Magpul MOE grip
Titan Sjc Muzzle break
Aimpoint Micro.

It's the perfect setup for competition.

I'll swim against the stream and in this case say buy the gun that's built for what you want to do - the 3G. Already has a Geiselle trigger, muzzle break, rail set up, and MOE grip - just add Aimpoint and go. Lifetime warranty to the original purchaser and support from Arms East in Canada, for right around the cost of a DD without any of the competition stuff. Also running an 18 inch tube, and rifle length gas system will smooth out the recoil impulse and make the gun run more reliably.

Yeah, while I'd generally recommend DD, in this case, Stag is the right choice. You can probably get away with just replacing the buttstock and maybe the comp (probably ok leaving it in) and have a rifle that would allow you to run with the big boys. If you are gonna be running this rifle for 3gun, I wouldn't waste my money on Aimpoint. Get a good 1-6 and 45deg offset irons for close-up work.

In that price range, I'd buy a V11 and put a PWS FSC556 on the front of it.

Lots of optics to choose from these days, I like my 1-4 out to 400 yds

Grab a box of ammo and run around putting holes in cardboard!

Dean from Select Shooting Supplies saw a new one from Vortex - it's a 1-6 in the $500 ballpark that seems to offer a lot more than the Burris/Sightmark price-range would suggest, at Shot Show. Should be coming to our market soon. Stay tuned to their site :)

Of your list Id pick the DD. However, I just owned one and a Colt at the same time and for some reason prefer my Colt 6920. Go figure. It ain't as pretty finish wise put I just like it better. Sold the DD to a buddy.

In scopes don't forget Nikon AR scopes. Very nice. The new one that just came out is beauty. I compared to all the 500 dollar range scopes and Nikons glass is much clearer. I guess when you make cameras....
