No this isn't to attempt to change the legality of an AR, I know you can't do that.

Just need a barrel around this length for a project I have in mind. Having trouble finding one using googlefu and figured I'd ask my fellow gunnutz about who could either sell or make a barrel like this for me. Cost isn't an issue but cheaper is better.

Brownells?

I was looking into 300AAC tubes a while back and I was certain some were ok for export.

I'm not to familiar with import/export regulations, hence the reason I haven't been having a ton of luck since I narrowed my search to within the borders XD. I'll see if Brownells can ship here, thanks for the suggestion.

Edit- Upon further searching, near as I can tell they don't ship or sell barrels out of the USA.

They will if you do all the import/export paperwork. There's a sticky in the Legal section on CGN.

That's nice to know, I'll keep the sticky bookmarked in case I go that road.

Definitely the way to go IMO. It doens't cost a dime to get the appropriate paperwork required and the items can be had at much better prices. Granted the CAN-US exchange rate isn't the greatest right now, but if it's on sale, you'll be saving money.

The paperwork isn't arduous.. They send you a PDF that you can fill in on the computer then either email or fax it back. It's almost akin to a customs declaration when you send a parcel cross boarder, really

To order more regulated items like barrels, upper receivers etc. is a bit more paperwork than the usual End User Agreement form for $100-$500. worth of items.

Good to know Brownells is using my PDF form. I got tired of having to manually fill in their original form with my chicken scratch. :)

Will the extra 0.5" make that much of a difference over an 18" barrel?
Will the extra 1.5" a 20" barrel provides be too long?

The reason I'm wondering is why limit yourself to an oddball length when it is much easier to find an 18" or 20" barrel?
What type of barrel are you looking for SS or Carbon Steel? Light, Medium, or Heavy profile?

In what caliber.223, 5.56, 223 wylde and no they are not all the same.

Truth be told I'm looking for one anywhere between 18.5"-20" barrels, I suppose I should have mentioned that from the start. As for details I'm not looking for anything too specific. 5.56 is preferred, but I don't have a pre-existing ammo stash at the moment, so I'm flexible. The only requirement I'm dead set on is that it be over 18.5" in length.

Wolverine still has some DD 18" S2W barrels. just built a upper with one of these. was very impressed. shot 2, 3/4" 5 rnd groups before putting it away.

The reason I asked is because I have a Stag 3G with an 18" SS fluted barrel made by E.R. Shaw with a rifle length gas system that shoots great and very soft shooting at that.
I know that they are available from Stag Arms USA for $200.
I'm pretty sure Arms East would be able to get one for you.
