We are looking for an abattoir/game butcher in the Geraldton area of northern Ontario in anticipation for our Moose hunting trip this October. We are new to hunting the area but have been moose hunting since 1984. Any recommendations, tips or leads would be greatly appreciated as we are having trouble locating somebody as such.

Much appreciated.

Manitouwadge is a long way from Geraldton, although i suppose if you took the Caramat road on the way back, you could stop in and spend a couple of days waiting for it. I live in Geraldton, once we get close to moose season, it is not unusual to see hundreds of "convoys" on the road, complete with travel trailers, quad trailers, boat trailers and even freezers. In the first few weeks, basically any spot you can put a tent up, or park a trailer is fully occupied. Places like the Goldfield road are literally packed with moose hunters.

Went up to 18A a few years ago to try to get away from the crowds. Equally bad, there was one group with five trailers and 20 guys hunting off one tag.

Jesus I didn’t realize this. My father hunted there back in the 80’s and we ran a scouting/fishing trip this summer to find a few spots. Thank you for the information.
