I may be turning into one of you guys. It seems when ever someone I know finds something pointy and old or firearm related I am the guy they go to with it

A guy I know who's Dad is getting quite old has a few things he would like to pass on before the women in his family start fighting to the death over it all, and on of the cooler items is a 1871/84 Mauser bayonet in very good condition made by Carl Eikhorn. Hid Dad used to have a large collection but got rid of most of it during some financial difficulties but this must have been stashed away.
The Son has very little interest in guns etc but other than that is not a bad guy He is more interested in knowing what it is worth than actually selling it.
However doing the research now I want one of the 71/84 rifles. They were a beautiful arm and as well made as any military piece. The gothic script really caught my eye as well.
